CANCELLED- Beach Iaido training tomorrow morning

Because of inclement weather and frosty temps, we will not be having iaido training on the beach tomorrow at sunrise. However, we will be conducting a demo at the New Age Old Hippie Festival (gotta love the name) hosted by Goddess Gear tomorrow afternoon. Click on the link for more info and directions!

Iaido training at Hugh MacRae- 10/31

We will meet at Hugh MacRae park tomorrow for iaido training instead of at Gold’s Gym. It should be nice and sunny out! Meet 12.30pm at the parking area next to the pond and gazebo. Look for weird folks in dark blue skirts and white tops waving wooden sticks around and yelling loudly if you get lost .

Sunrise meditation and samurai sword training- FREE!

We will be hosting a sunrise meditation and iaido training at the “surf’s edge” at
Wrightsville Beach, Sat Nov 14th. “Bokens” (wooden swords) will be
provided. Please call Senseis Keith and Deborah McDuffie  675-3757 to register and for location details. We will start around 6.30am. This event is FREE and open to all.

P/S: We’ll repeat this event on the SECOND Saturday of every month until further notice.

Was wandering through the Chrysler Art Museum in Norfolk, VA, and they had a section on Oriental crafts. Much more ornate than my plain old one!

Health and Wellness Fair at CFCC

Tomorrow- 10am-2pm, we’ll be at the Health and Wellness Fair at the Schwartz Center, Cape Fear Community College. Check us out!

Picnic at Hugh MacRae Fri 10/2

Hello fellow aikidokas (and iaidokas)! We are having a potluck picnic at Hugh MacRae park tomorrow afternoon, from 4-8pm, shelter 3. Come hang out, get to know your fellow training partners outside of the dojo and see how well they can cook! Bring a dish to share, and if you like, your bokkens and jos too, because it will be a beautiful day to be outdoors!

Next sunrise iaido training

The one last month went so well we decided we would do it again! Next sunrise meditation and iaido training on the beach is on Saturday, Sept 12th, around 6am. Call before coming! See previous post for details

Accessible Recreation Day at UNCW 2009

This is always a fun one to go to, and the participants really enjoy a hands-on aikido session too. Quite a few of them are repeat visitors.
